Finally, a chance for an interview after over a month of sending e-mail applications. The position was content writer for a BPO company in Makati, offering web development and web application services.
Everything about the experience was positive except that I got my brain fried and my chances practically toasted.
The day before, I had my hair cut, researched something about the company, ironed out my polo from the “baul” and prepared some answers to the usual interview questions.
So I arrived early in their office and looked for the HR personnel who arranged the appointment. I guess the interviewer was satisfied enough with my description of myself despite some stammering that she did not asked another question. Rather, she guided me to a cubicle, opened the PC and said that my content writing skills will be tested.
Soon enough, she gave the instructions. I have to make 5 articles, at least 500 words each for the keywords; marijuana program, medicinal marijuana program & marijuana center. Each article should be optimized with one of the keyword phrases. They all need to be realistic and original. Thankfully, I was allowed to research online.
Unfortunately, articles on the internet for the subject matter were quite limited. Or perhaps, it was my researching skills that were lacking. I ended up making 4 articles reaching with 500+ words and one with with only 250+ words. All of it was original composition, realistic enough for me, and utilizing the assigned keyword phrases.
Six hours later since I started, my brain told me it was all too fried up to continue. I heeded its pleadings and informed the hr personnel that I am done.
Naturally, I received the familiar we’ll call you after we evaluated your work line. Kinda disheartening but I’m glad for the experience. Hopefully, I would be much more prepared for my next interview and more capable for content writing.
